Strada + AVID NEXIS (Windows)

On Windows, if AVID NEXIS maps a workspace to a drive letter automatically, that mapped drive can be hidden from normal Windows drive display, which means Strada won’t see it.

The fix is simple:

  • Mount the NEXIS workspace as a letter-less UNC path

  • Do not let the NEXIS auto-map a drive letter

  • Map the network drive yourself (as your Windows user)

When you map it yourself, Windows exposes it normally and Strada can access it.

Step-by-step guide (Windows 11)

1.Make sure NEXIS is not auto-mapping a drive letter

• Open Avid NEXIS Client (or Client Manager)

• Unmount any existing workspace partitions

2. Assign a New Mount Point

• Right+Click and choose "Assign Mount Point"

3. Choose a UNC

• UNC will create a partition that allows you the opportunity to manually map the drive to a letter

4. You should now see the UNC Workspace

5. Manually Map the UNC to a Network Drive

• Right+Click on the new workspace partition

• select "Map Newtork Drive..."

6. Map the Drive to a Letter

• Choose a letter drive you wish to map the Nexis partition to.

• Make sure select "Reconnect at sign-in"

• choose "Finish" to create the new workspace partition

7) Confirm the Strada Agent can see the Nexis Partition

  1. Open the Strada Agent

  2. You should see the Avid Nexis as a networked drive you can access

  3. Check the box to connect it to your Strada Account

  4. Go to the strada.tech web app and navigate to MY COMPUTERS in the upper left

  5. You can now remotely access the Nexis mapped drive
