Strada + AVID NEXIS (Windows)

On Windows, if AVID NEXIS maps a workspace to a drive letter automatically, that mapped drive can be hidden from normal Windows drive display, which means Strada won’t see it.

The fix is simple:

  • Mount the NEXIS workspace as a letter-less UNC path

  • Do not let the NEXIS app auto-map a drive letter

  • Map the network drive yourself (as your Windows user)

When you map it yourself, Windows exposes it normally and Strada can access it.

Step-by-step guide (Windows 11)

1) Make sure NEXIS is not auto-mapping a drive letter

  1. Open Avid NEXIS Client (or Client Manager).

  2. Find the option related to automatically mounting/mapping workspaces.

  3. Disable any setting that:

    • automatically assigns a drive letter, or

    • automatically maps the workspace for you.

Important: If a workspace is already mapped by NEXIS, unmount/unmap it first (see “Cleanup” below).

2) Mount the NEXIS workspace as a letter-less UNC path

  1. In the Avid NEXIS Client, mount the workspace so it’s available via a UNC path (network path) like:

    • \\NEXIS-SERVER\WorkspaceName

  2. Confirm the workspace is reachable by UNC (you can test it quickly):

    • Press Windows + R

    • Paste the UNC path (example: \\NEXIS-SERVER\WorkspaceName)

    • Press Enter

  3. A File Explorer window should open to that location.

✅ If this works, Windows can see the workspace path correctly.

3) Map the workspace yourself in Windows 11 (recommended UI method)

  1. Open File Explorer

  2. Click This PC

  3. Click the … (three dots) menu in the toolbar

  4. Choose Map network drive

  5. Pick an available Drive letter (example: N:)

  6. In Folder, enter the UNC path, for example:

    • \\NEXIS-SERVER\WorkspaceName

  7. Check Reconnect at sign-in

  8. Click Finish

✅ Now Windows has a normal mapped drive (created by you), and Strada should be able to see it.

4) Confirm Strada can see it

  1. Open the Strada Agent

  2. Yo should see the Avid NExis as a networked drive you can access

  3. Check the box to connect it to your Strada account

  4. Go to the strada.tech web app and navigate to MY COMPUTERS in the upper left

  5. You should now see the Nexis mapped drive

Cleanup (if NEXIS already mapped it before)

If Strada still can’t see the storage, it’s usually because an old mapping exists.

Option A: Disconnect in File Explorer

  1. File Explorer → This PC

  2. Right-click the mapped drive → Disconnect

Option B: Use Command Prompt (fast + reliable)

  1. Open Command Prompt

  2. List mappings:

    • net use

  3. Delete the old mapping:

    • net use N: /delete

  4. Repeat the guide steps and map it yourself again.

Troubleshooting checklist

  • You can open the workspace by UNC: \\server\workspace

  • NEXIS app is not auto-mapping a drive letter ✅

  • You mapped the drive using Map network drive (or net use) as your user ✅

  • The mapped drive appears in This PC

  • Strada now sees the drive ✅
