AVID Workflow using Strada

AVID Media Composer Enterprise allows you to mount shared AVID projects using Strada connect and Mimiq to map the drive correctly.

Written by Michael Cioni

Avid released Media Composer Enterprise in September 2026. This version of AVID allows you to make shared projects that included BIN LOCKING without the requirement of a Nexis system.

Today, AVID still requires a restricted file path which rejects file paths to media that are not on the root of a drive. While Strada can share media from any drive, the file path goes through Strada Connect, which AVID will not permit.

The product Mimiq allows you to bypass (remap) the file path so you see the remote Strada drive mounted on your desktop via Mimiq, not via Strada Connect.

Strada connect shows a longer file path than Avid accepts. So in the below image, you can see the difference between the two:

The below FINDER image shows the path to AVID via Strada Connect

(this is a file path that AVID rejects)

The below FINDER image shows the path to AVID via MIMIQ

(this is a file path that AVID accepts because it skips the Strada Connect / Colorado Mac Mini path).

By using Mimiq to remap the file path, Avid MediaFiles shows up as expected and can be access in MC Enterprise with Bin Locking from any drive in the world. Avid will automatically discover and create the .pmr and .mdb in the bins.
